  • Join Dan as he chats with Lorri Haines, entrepreneur and family man from Essex. Lorri is the CEO of mental health and well-being app ‘Shoorah’ which launched in 2023 and has run multiple successful business ventures since he was a teenager. Lorri also stars in an ITV show with his fiancée; Ferne McCann: My Family & Me.
Lorri Haines delves into his past, growing up with an alcoholic mother, who went through many partners. This resulted in lots of different male figures in Lorri’s life; all of whom were drinkers and led to Lorri being neglected emotionally. After facing trauma from an early age, Lorri has become very focused on both mental and physical health, constantly working on himself, so he can be the best version for his family. Lorri is also an ambassador for alcohol charity Nacoa UK, helping others who have been affected by their parents drinking.

Menace II Sobriety Live brings the up & coming podcast to the live stage; hosted by Daniel O'Reilly and a special guest, no topic is off-limits. Combining humour with stories and issues which both Daniel and the audience will have experienced, whether first hand or through someone they know. Offering an environment for people to openly discuss their struggles was Daniel's main focus behind starting the podcast, as well as his M.A.T.E group; so now he also brings it to the stage and to the public.
What can people expect at the live podcast:
Join Daniel at Menace II Sobriety Live, as he discusses all things sobriety, ADHD, mental health and more. The podcastwill be recorded live with a special guest, including audience interaction and finishing with an open Q&A.
Daniel will not only be discussing sobriety, but everything life throws at us, and he would love for you to join him. Bring your tissues and your sense of humour, because we have no idea what topics will be discussed, but whatever the conversation, it'll be a supportive environment and may contain some dad jokes.
    Story behind the podcast:
The Menace II Sobriety podcast was set up after Daniel faced his own battles with sobriety, ADHD, mental health and certain life scenarios. He set up a M.A.T.E group on Facebook, so that men could support men in an accessible, open and friendly environment. Upon seeing the responses from men around the world to some of the posts on the group, Daniel was blown away by the kindness and support of strangers. This led him to create the podcast, inviting a range of guests from different backgrounds, sharing his own personal experiences & struggles; and now, opening up to the public in a live environment, where people can come along and watch in-person, or get involved in the audience interaction.

Seems that this ep hasn't been listened or watched to the fullest. Listening to people's addiction stories is great but knowing what to do to maintain sobriety is 100x more valuable which is exactly what Lorri is showing us. He is a fountain of good positive knowledge. What he discusses is exactly what people need to be able to become the person they want and need to be. He has control of his life and we need to be taught by more of him! Dan is at the part of his journey where he can take so much from what Lorri is saying and spread the positivity and knowledge. Thanks Dan and Lorri. Great episode.

Great episode. People who are criticizing Lorri for drinking in moderation are missing the point! He has his drinking under control and no longer uses it to deal with his emotions. He was greatly affected by alcoholism as a child and was kind enough to talk about what he learned from it. Let the man speak! Certain people in the sober community like to police other peoples’ sobriety instead of listening with an open mind. Live and let live.

I’m not being aggressive saying this but if you’re not into a video then just click off and tune in next time. Comments like this can really discourage someone like Dan who is being vulnerable and putting himself out there to help others.

@mombear2749 feedback is good. Helps the channel to grow. I don't think Dan is particularly vulnerable. He has issues like we all do. I didn't critique the guest. I don't think its appropriate to do so. Dan's guests are usually blinding, and I appreciate the work he's doing for people in soberiety massively. (Being one myself)

No hate intended with this comment just my opinion but lost me with this one when he said he understands "control" when it comes to alcohol. So basically he's stronger willed and better informed than the rest of us who are out of control with alcohol? He's got some good information here and seems in touch with his spirituality but with regards to being sober and staying sober long term he's clueless

Another good listen, although I don’t 100% agree with the point of the parents drinking pattern leads to his own problems. At the end of the day you make your own decisions especially when you get older. I grew up in a household where there was no alcohol but as soon as I reached drinking age I was s heavy drinker. It’s all down to you at the end of the day

So everyone who isn't an alcoholic or sober can't talk about the damage or affects addicts have on other people? Not everyone on this planet has to be sober to talk about addiction. He was affected by it as a child so that's what he's trying to get across. He is able to drink sensibly like many other people, doesn't mean they cant come on a sobriety podcast and talk about his experience about addiction 🤦 sorry but your comment is daft.

    • @CassieMinshull-tz3xi

Everyone has a different form of sobriety. I was a heroin addict for a decade, but I still drink twice a week. My problem was heroin, not booze. Not everyone goes for completely abstinence.
